Outstanding Air Cadet
F/Sgt James Herriot, 676 Kittyhawk Squadron, was recognized as the outstanding air cadet
on Vancouver Island over the past training year. BGen John Neroutsos presented him a cash
award from the Royal United Services Institute of Vancouver Island. The Annual Ceremonial
Review of the Squadron on 15 June 02 was held at 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron Hangar,
Kittyhawk Road, Sidney.
In a letter of thanks, F/Sgt Herriot announced his intention to use the award for flying lessons
at the Victoria Flight Training Centre. His goal is to become a commercial pilot. RUSI of VI
wishes him well.
Book Prizes to UVIC
The Senate Committee of the University of Victoria has announced the winners of the year
2002 RUSI of VI undergraduate Book Awards. The Committee has chosen the following two
students:
- Mr. Daniel Bullard from Victoria, for excellence in European History; and
- Mr. Mike Horvat of Kamloops, for excellence in Canadian History.
RUSI of VI congratulates these young men for their academic excellence and will make an
appropriate book award to each at our monthly luncheon meeting.
2003 Membership Renewal
Membership Renewal is now due — $30 for members and $40 for
families. Make cheque payable to RUSI of VI and mail to the office or deliver it
when attending an upcoming meeting.
2003 Annual General Meeting Will Be Held On 12 Mar 03
All executive positions and executive offices are elected annually.
