Truly, there must be no life like it. Due to the high number of recruits joining the Canadian Forces, the solitary Recruit School at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. has burst its seams. Realistically, the CF has restored its Recruit training centres across the country to complete the 13-week Basic Military Qualification courses.
The Wainwright, Alta. Western Area Training Centre will be conducting up to eight courses over the next two years. Other similar courses are being run at Meaford, Ont., Gagetown, NB and Valcartier, Que. All instructors are vigilant to ensure that the standards for these courses are the same as those in Saint-Jean. The one significant advantage with the new locations is that they each have more and larger training areas and facilities available than St. Jean.
Currently Wainwright is running two courses of 60 recruits each about four weeks apart.
