Presidents Message:
We are still wrestling with our outreach..program. Our executive have sorted and
sifted though a variety of options, but have not yet settled on any particular option -or a set of options. Our
sense of the situation is that we have a responsibility to add to our outreach program -of which the Military
Oral History project is a part. Our thought is that this MOH project should continue to be the centerpiece of
our outreach program. However, as we speak, we have surfaced the following projects that would significantly
add to the program, but we can.t do them all (think I). In no particular order then, here they are: an
annual Military Ball, RUSI VI Papers (invited would be learned papers, and the best receive a prize), an annual
seminar/conference chaired by a person of national/international significance (topics chosen annually),
invitation of local persons of influence to our luncheons, get our speakers bureau known and invited out,
formation of study groups (e.g., recruitment, force structure, PTSD, cohesion, strategic postures ... ) which
would produce materials for publication ... there may be more options but these are all that I can dredge up
at the moment. As you can see, each of these alternatives are capable of increasing our outreach initiative and
indeed some of these can be coupled so as to increase our effectiveness. We need some discussion here
-Ideas/Preferences?? Send them in/chat them up.
Cheers ..... John
