The outstanding sea, air and army cadets during the past training year in the Victoria area were recognized recently with cash awards from the Royal United Services Institute of Vancouver Island.
Sea Cadet – Cadet Petty Officer 1 Bradley Wilde, 263 RCSCC Beacon Hill (Sea Cadets) in Colwood was selected best sea cadet. He received his award from Commander W.E. Macdonald, a director of RUSI of VI, at the Juan de Fuca Arena on Sunday, 29 May.
Army Cadet – Cadet Corporal Eryn Beddoes, 3005 (11 Service Battalion) RCACC (Army Cadets) was awarded the Army prize. Lieutenant Colonel K.J.W. Reeves, a RUSI of VI director, made the presentation at the LGen EC Ashton Armoury in Victoria on Wednesday, 18 May.
Air Cadet – Cadet Flight Sergeant Victor Weston, 744 Cowichan RCACS (Air Cadets) in Duncan was outstanding air cadet of the year. The award was presented by Colonel W.C. Weston (no relation), a director of RUSI of VI, at Henderson Hall in Duncan on Sunday, 12 June.
