Biographical Sketch:

Captain T. Robert Pike joined the U.S. Coast Guard as an ensign in 1966. His early assignments in Coastal search and rescue included the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” - Cape Hatteras. He then went to Ports and Waterways Safety mission in Hampton Roads and New York areas and later in the Pacific Northwest. In United States Coast Guard ship the 13th Coast Guard District in Seattle, he was “Migs” Turner’s (RUSI member) opposite number for vessel traffic management in the Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Later, he managed training programs at the Yorktown Training Center for over 6,000 trainees annually. He has BBA and MA (Economics &Business) degrees. He attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the National Defence University in Washington, DC. Captain Pike retired in 1991 and moved to Sequin, WA in 1998.

Biographical Sketch:

Cmdre Eric Lehre took command of Canadian Fleet Pacific in Jan. 2001. Prior to that from 1998, he had the Maritime Warfare School in Halifax. In 1967 he joined as an officer cadet at CMR and RMC. He was commissioned SLt in 1972 and joined HMCS RESTIGOUCHE at Esquimalt. He subsequently served aboard YUKON, FRASER and ANNAPOLIS. He attended the Armed Forces College in Norfolk, Virginia in 1986. Promoted in Sept. 1987, Cdr Lehre took command of HMCS NIPIGON and then had SAGUENAY until 1990. Next, he was on the staff of the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College, Toronto until his promotion to Capt (N) and posting to NDHQ as a director. Cmdre Lehre obtained an MA in International and Security Studies in 1996 at Dalhousie University.
