Our Institute is honoured that the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, The Honourable Iona Campagnola, has graciously consented to be out Patron. The members take great pleasure in welcoming Her Honour to RUSI VI and look forward to a close and enduring association.

I want to welcome you back to RUSI for another interesting and informative year. Last year and the events of September 11 will no doubt be remembered for many generations to come. Our Armed Forces will face many challenges resulting from these terrorist acts and will present many changes to all Canadians. This Institute will hopefully be able to bring knowledgeable speakers to you to keep you informed of these changes in a rapidly evolving world. The executive of RUSI hope that you will continue to support our Institute by attending meetings, bringing in new members and encouraging others to attend meetings.

Ted Ethier, a great friend of RUSI, the Navy and the USN passed on recently in Nanaimo. He will be deeply missed by his RUSI friends and associates. All the Best for the New Year.
